About BookWyrm
BookWyrm occupies a unit inside Durham Market Hall, across from The Nook. Opened in 2022, the shop takes its name from the County Durham legend of the Lambton Worm. The stock leans towards titles from small authors and independent presses, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ writing across fiction, non-fiction, science fiction and fantasy.
One of the co-owners, an author and illustrator, also sells his own books, zines and character figurines from the stall. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, and is one of a small number of independent bookshops to have opened in the city in recent years.
