Durham Music Service

Durham County Council's music service, giving instrumental and vocal lessons in schools and running ensembles across County Durham.

About Durham Music Service

Durham Music Service is the lead partner in the Music Education Hub for County Durham and Darlington, funded by Durham County Council, Darlington Borough Council and Arts Council England. Its teachers cover upper and lower strings, woodwind, brass, guitar and ukulele, percussion, piano and keyboard, singing and curriculum music.

Instrumental lessons usually take place in school during the school day, with parents paying for lessons and instrument hire, and the service also runs ensembles for young musicians. Families can ask their child's school whether it takes part or use the sign-up page on the service's website for current costs.
