St Margaret's Allotments

About St Margaret's Allotments
St Margaret's Allotments is a hillside site of almost 100 plots just west of the Durham peninsula, sharing its land with the Norman church of St Margaret of Antioch, its churchyard and the St Margaret's Centre. It is owned by the St Margaret's Allotments Association, and many of its gardeners use organic and no-dig methods, with ponds and rainwater collection on plenty of plots.
The site has entrances from Margery Lane and Crossgate and is around ten minutes on foot from Durham bus and railway stations. It has opened for the National Garden Scheme and hosts occasional community events with the church and the Friends of St Margaret's Churchyard.
