The Mugwump has traded on Saddler Street, on the approach to Durham Cathedral, since 1966. Spread over three floors of a historic building, it stocks a broad mix of gifts including contemporary glassware and ceramics, mugs and cushions, scented candles, soaps and lotions, cards, and soft toys. An upper floor carries a selection of clothing and accessories, and the shop is a familiar fixture for locals and visitors buying gifts and keepsakes.
The shop is independently run and known for filling every available corner with a changing selection of stock. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, and the business maintains active Facebook and Instagram pages.
