About This Event

Durham Cathedral presents a candlelit performance of Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, given by the Cathedral's Lay Clerks, Choral Scholars and its boy and girl Choristers. The hour-long concert fills one of England's great Norman buildings with Britten's much-loved setting of medieval and Tudor texts. Doors open at 5.15pm for a 6pm start, with the performance lasting around 60 minutes. The candlelit setting makes it an atmospheric way to mark the approach of Christmas. The concert is free of charge, with a retiring collection taken in support of the Cathedral. A free ticket should be reserved in advance through the Cathedral's box office.
