About This Event

Led by the Chester-le-Street Salvation Army Band, a procession of children carrying lanterns sets off from Market Place at 3pm and winds up through Palace Green to Durham Cathedral. The parade ends with Saint Nicholas' Service at 3.30pm, where everyone joins in favourite Christmas carols. No booking is needed for the service, but lanterns must be reserved in advance through the Durham Christmas Festival website; the road from Market Place to the Cathedral is closed and there is no parking on Palace Green.
