October Half Term at Durham Cathedral
Free half-term family activities at Durham Cathedral, including light-art crafts, mystery-object mini tours and a LEGO model of the cathedral with monk dressing-up.
About This Event
Durham Cathedral runs a free programme for families over the October half term. From Monday 26 to Friday 30 October there is a light-art craft table by the Visitor Desk (11am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm), where children punch patterns into paper and then borrow a torch to project them onto the cathedral walls. Mini tours run on the same weekdays from 11am to 12.30pm: pick an object from a mystery bag, from a fossil to a bear dressed as a monk, for a ten-minute tour of its link to the cathedral, with no booking needed. From Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, families can borrow a backpack from the Visitor Desk, build their own mini cathedral from LEGO, try the monk dressing-up station and see the LEGO model of the cathedral in Durham Cathedral Museum (Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4.30pm, Sunday 12.30pm to 3pm). The Undercroft Cafe offers up to two free children's meals with each adult meal over the same dates. Entry to the cathedral is free, with a suggested £5 donation.
