About This Event
The Grand cinema in Beamish's 1950s Town screens Defiant, a documentary by Lonely Tower Film and Media, directed by Marie Gardiner and Mark Thorburn. Through first-hand testimony it explores County Durham's role in the 1984-85 Miners' Strike, the effect of colliery closures on pit communities and how Orgreave was felt on local streets. Introductions begin at 1:45pm and the film (around 102 minutes) starts at 2pm. The screening is free with a Beamish Unlimited Pass, but booking is required through the museum's online ticketing.
