About This Event

Presented by Durham Jazz Festival, this Saturday night concert brings together one of the UK's emerging jazz voices and a celebrated North East big band. Marvin Muoneké is a vocalist, songwriter, arranger and trumpeter, described by JazzFM as a new vocal sensation in the UK. He was nominated for Jazz Artist of the Year at the 2024 Boisdale Music Awards and has appeared on The Voice and Britain's Got Talent. Strictly Smokin' Big Band, directed by Michael Lamb, is billed as the only ensemble of its kind in the North of England. Jazzwise has praised the band for reinventing the big band, and its programmes range from classic swing to contemporary writing, including Harlem '58 and Ella and Ellington.
