About 4th Durham (Gilesgate) Scout Group

4th Durham (Gilesgate) Scout Group is part of Durham City Scouts and serves families in Gilesgate and the eastern side of the city. Its Beaver colony meets at St Giles Church Hall on Church Lane, with Cubs, Scouts and Explorers meeting nearby at Gilesgate Primary School on Kepier Crescent. Across the sections, from Beavers for the youngest through Cubs, Scouts and Explorers for teenagers, the group offers a weekly programme of activities, teamwork, camps and outdoor adventure.

The group is run entirely by volunteers, with subscriptions kept modest and help available so that no child misses out. As with most groups, the popular younger sections can have waiting lists, so it is worth registering early through the group's website or the national Scouts join page. New adult volunteers are always welcome, and full training is provided; more helpers usually means more places for children.
