Christmas Evenings at Beamish
Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, transforms into a magical Victorian and Edwardian Christmas across six festive evenings. Explore lantern-lit streets, meet Father Christmas in Elf Wood and enjoy seasonal films.
About This Event
Across selected evenings in December, Beamish Museum opens after dark for its hugely popular Christmas Evenings. The Edwardian town street, the 1900s pit village and the traditionally decorated homes and shops are dressed for Christmas, with live musicians playing festive tunes and the museum's historic buildings glowing in the winter night. Visitors can wander through Elf Wood, toast a marshmallow and meet Father Christmas in his grotto. The experience runs on 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th December 2026, each evening from 5pm to 9.30pm. Festive films are screened on rotation through the run, including The Nightmare Before Christmas (3rd and 4th), Home Alone (10th and 11th) and Arthur Christmas (17th and 18th). Tickets must be pre-booked online in advance and are not sold at the museum on the night. Adult tickets are £25.50 and child tickets £16, with under-2s admitted free. The event is extremely popular and dates frequently sell out, so early booking is advised.
