Spice Lounge

Award-winning Indian restaurant and takeaway right on the Market Place, serving a broad menu of classic curries, biryanis and tandoori dishes in a relaxed setting.

About Spice Lounge

Spice Lounge occupies St Nicholas Cottage on the Market Place, about as central as a Durham restaurant can be, and serves a wide menu of Indian classics in a casual, contemporary dining room. Alongside the familiar Madras, jalfrezi, rogan josh and vindaloo, the kitchen turns out tandoori grills, biryanis and house specials such as butter chicken and lamb passanda, with plenty for vegetarians. The award-winning kitchen has built a strong local reputation for consistency and value.

The Market Place setting makes it handy for a meal before or after a night out, and it works both as a sit-down restaurant and for collection. It is a short walk from the bus station and the main shopping streets, so it is easy to reach from across the city. As with any restaurant, it is worth confirming opening hours and booking ahead at busy times.
