About Colpitts Hotel
The Colpitts Hotel is a late-Victorian, end-of-terrace Samuel Smith's pub on Hawthorn Terrace, a short walk out from Durham city centre. Its unusual A-shaped building holds a cosy snug, a pool room and the main bar, and like all Sam Smith's houses it keeps things gentle, with the noise coming from conversation rather than music or television.
The pub has hosted a cheerful, low-cost quiz priced at around a pound a head, often with a rotating host and prizes that change from week to week. Quiz nights here can move, so it is worth confirming the current evening with the pub before you head up the hill.
