About Tin of Sardines

Tin of Sardines is a wonderfully quirky little gin bar on Elvet Bridge, and lives up to its name: with room for only around sixteen people inside, it is reputed to be one of the smallest gin bars in the world. The sister bar to Old Tom's, it packs in a collection of over two hundred gins and fifty mixers from across the globe, served in a cosy, characterful space, with a few outside seats on the bridge itself overlooking the River Wear. It is a fun, intimate spot for a carefully made gin and tonic.

The tiny size is part of the charm but does mean it fills quickly, especially at weekends, so you may need to wait for a seat or spill out onto the bridge in good weather. It sits right in the heart of the city on the historic Elvet Bridge, moments from the Market Place. As with any small bar, opening hours can vary, so it is worth checking before making a special trip.
