About Durham Climbing Centre

Durham Climbing Centre is a dedicated indoor bouldering venue on St John's Road at Meadowfield, less than three miles south-west of the city centre and reachable by bus or car. It is one of the largest dedicated bouldering centres in the country, with a big spread of walls and problems that are regularly reset to keep things fresh, catering for everyone from complete beginners to very advanced climbers. Bouldering needs no ropes or partner, so it is an easy sport to try for the first time.

The centre offers induction sessions and coaching for newcomers, and welcomes families and groups as well as regular climbers, making it a good all-weather activity for older children, teenagers and adults alike. Shoe hire is available, so you can turn up without any kit, and it is a popular indoor alternative on wet days when the outdoor crags are off.
