Durham Amateur Rowing Club
A long-established rowing club on the River Wear at Old Elvet, offering learn-to-row courses for beginners as well as competitive and recreational rowing.
About Durham Amateur Rowing Club
Durham Amateur Rowing Club is based at the City Boathouse on Green Lane, Old Elvet, on a scenic stretch of the River Wear just outside the city centre. One of the region's established rowing clubs, it caters for members of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to competitive crews racing at regattas including Durham's own.
The club runs learn-to-row courses aimed at newcomers, with no prior experience needed, covering rowing, sculling, coxing and indoor rowing under qualified coaches, and it also offers inclusive sessions such as free rowing for people living with cancer. For anyone wanting to take up the sport or return to it, it provides a welcoming and well-organised route onto the water in the heart of Durham.
