Durham University's main sports complex on Stockton Road, with a fitness centre, classes and pitches used by students, staff and local clubs and members.
About Maiden Castle Sport and Wellbeing Park
Maiden Castle Sport and Wellbeing Park is Durham University's principal sports complex, set on Stockton Road to the east of the main campus beside the River Wear. It combines an extensive fitness centre with sports halls, studios, indoor and outdoor courts and playing pitches, supporting student, staff and local community participation.
Community membership is available, giving local people access to the gym and a full timetable of fitness classes, and the park is home to many local clubs and teams covering athletics, hockey, fencing, football and more. With its scale and range of facilities it is one of the best-equipped places to train in the city, complementing the more central leisure provision at Freeman's Quay.
